The cards are in your hands now.

For years we used to run membership open days for our clients.

They were one of the core events in our golf marketing campaign calendars.

When they’re done well they’ve been so incredibly successful.

Every April and May like clockwork we used to watch the fresh members role in.

One of our clients even generated over 70 members in one day.

Fast forward to a post-Covid world and the last thing a golf club can do is promote an event encouraging 100 golfers to turn up to their club.

However, right now there’s an insatiable demand for golf.

Whilst I’m not saying clubs are in a position to start naming their price, for the first time in years it appears the shoe is on the other foot.

So what can we do?

The cards are definitely in your hands now to be able to pick and choose when visitors play and try and convert as many of these nomadic golfers into a membership where possible.

Our partner clubs are seeing record numbers of enquiries.

One club I spoke to yesterday said they had 20 membership enquiries in one day!

I don’t need to explain why.

So it got me thinking.

How do you still host a membership open day in today’s climate?

Then I came up with an idea I think will be even more successful than our previous golf marketing campaign promotions.

The answer…

A virtual golf membership open day.

Ok, it’s not a complete game-changer, but bear with me 🙂

You see, what is an open day really?

Essentially, it’s an opportunity for you to meet with local golfers who are interested in joining a club in your area.

The difference with a virtual golf membership open day is, rather than having golfers turning up en masse to meet you on one particular day in your calendar….

Instead, you get them to sign up with their name, email address and phone number and you call them straight away with your best sales pitch.

Believe me, there will be hardly any clubs in your area doing this right now.

Leaving you as potentially the only club sweeping up the abundance of golfers out there looking for membership.

It’s not as hard as you would think so don’t be afraid to ask.

I know right now most clubs’ thoughts will be on appeasing their existing members, and rightly so.

However, the golf club marketing done right now will reap the rewards in 2-4 weeks time when things may well die down a bit.

Stay safe.

Good luck.

And let’s all do our best to show the world how golf can be a part of their post-Covid lives.
