Voted best inland course in the UK and 20th best in the world by Golf World Magazine, The Hotchkin course at Woodhall Spa is an oasis in the heart of Lincolnshire.

Set amongst glorious pine, birch and broom, this heathland course is a world-class golf course and facility.

The brief

In 2015, a decision was taken to renovate the Hotchkin Course to maintain the club’s responsibility for looking after a National Treasure.

Over 3 years the  course was rebuilt in one of golf’s most comprehensive restoration projects managed by the leading American architect, Tom Doak, perhaps best known for original creations at Bandon Dunes, Streamsong and Cape Kidnappers.

Having worked with Woodhall Spa for over 3 years, Albatross Digital were tasked with coming up with a campaign to let the country know the Hotchkin Course was now ‘Ready To Play’.

The approach

Having worked closely with the senior team at Woodhall Spa for a number of years, we had come to know the clubs unique selling points (USPs) and what it is that attracts golfers to come and play this stunning golf course.

Taking these USPs, we put together a highly targeted society, green fee and stay and play lead generation campaign combining strategy, brand new creatives and artwork and paid social media adverts directed at golfers within a 3 hour drive of the club.

Each lead we generated was also called and prequalified further before being passed on to the booking office when ready to buy through James Bennett, our golf sales executive who manages our ‘Done For You Appointment Booking Service’.

The results

Over a 4 month period the club saw a huge uplift in green fee and society bookings.

Their adverts were seen 131k times (impressions) by over 34k golfers (reach).

By generating over 1300 society golfer leads within a 3 hour drive of the club, we were able to put society, green fee and stay and play offers in front of these golfers at the right time during optimal society booking season to ensure Woodhall Spa Golf Club was top of the list of golfers looking to book during autumn and winter 2019.
